Special Educator

Saint Michael’s College Graduate Programs in Education has an approved program that leads to licensing as a Special Educator for grades K-8, grades 7-Age 21, or grades K-Age 21.

Prerequisites for Admission to the Special Educator Program

  1. A bachelor’s degree with mastery level evident in content areas appropriate for grade levels and with successful completion of a liberal arts and science major.
  2. Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0, and a GPA of 3.0 in the major.
  3. Evidence of successful work experience with children.
  4. Successful completion of the entrance interview.

There are 14 required courses for a total of 41 credits that you will need to take for the Special Educator Licensure Programs. These courses with their corresponding course descriptions are listed in our Graduate Catalogue, under Licensure: Special Educator
