The Retreat Focus
This retreat is for anyone seeking to develop their relationship with God. Martin Pable will explore the following ideas within a context of lectures, open dialogue, prayer, silence and meditation:
Now more than ever the Spiritual Journey needs to be grounded in our earthly reality. We live in a time of immense change, of great challenge and opportunity. Many of the ideas and values that served us in the past no longer sustain. There is a hunger for the spiritual dimension of life and a search to live in ways that are more authentic and satisfying. At this time much old and new knowledge is available that can radically change the way we perceive ourselves, the world, and God.
During the retreat, participants will be invited to awaken to the spiritual dimensions of their lives in relation to the rich spiritual tradition that is our inheritance, and to move away from the small, disconnected view of self and life which imprisons us and impedes our relationship with God and all of God’s creation. The retreat will help awaken our deepest longing for connection with God and all that lies around us that is good, beautiful and true.
Christian Spirituality at its best is grounded in Sacred Scripture and Tradition and in dialogue with contemporary insights from psychology and anthropology. Our retreat will invite us to reflect on our own experience in the light of wisdom that is "ever ancient, ever new."
