Admission

Students who apply to the MATESOL, the MATESOL plus ESL Licensure/Endorsement, the Peace Corps Master's International Program, or the Graduate Certificate must have a bachelor’s degree with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 from an accredited American college or university, or its equivalent from a foreign university. International students attending bachelor's programs outside of the US need to have their transcripts evaluated course by course by an outside agency confirming the attainment of the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree. International applicants and applicants for whom English is not a native language should consult the International Applicants page and complete the international applicant section of the Graduate Admission Application. I-20 forms cannot be issued without completion of this form and the supporting financial documentation.

For all applicants, please visit our Admission Section to complete an online or downloadable application. In addition, the following documents are required:

  • Official transcripts of all prior undergraduate and graduate work mailed in the original sealed envelope
  • Three letters of recommendation with original signatures
  • An official TOEFL or other English language proficiency test score report (for those whom English is not a native language)*
  • An original letter of support (international students only)
  • A recent photograph (optional)
  • The application fee of $35.00 (U.S.) payable to Saint Michael’s
  • An essay (topic is noted in the application) 

Application for admission to Saint Michael’s is not complete until all of the above information is received. You will be informed of the admission decision by letter.
