Computer Accounts

All registered graduate students will be issued a computer account for the College network called "Mikenet." This account is the official communication for Saint Michael's College and Saint Michael's Graduate Programs. This account gives you access to the College computers, SMC e-mail, the Internet and to the Library resources (some classes may require it). Registered students will need to check their Saint Michael's computer account for College information.

To access your SMC email:

  • Go to http://smcmail.smcvt.edu on the Web.
  • Your user name will be the first letter of your first name and your full last name. – example: if your name is Jane Smith, your user name will be jsmith. (NOTE: for students with commonly spelled last names, you will have to confirm your user name with the Help Desk at 802.654.2020, ithelp@smcvt.edu.
  • Your initial password will be the first letter of your first name (capitalized), followed by the first letter of your last name (lower case), your Saint Michael's College ID# (seven digits) and an exclamation mark (!) - example: if your name is Jane Smith and your ID# is 1234567, your initial password is Js1234567!
    YOUR SMC ID# IS ON THE FRONT SIDE OF YOUR COURSE CONFIRMATION SENT TO YOU IN THE MAIL AFTER YOU REGISTER FOR A CLASS.

Please note: If you’ve taken a course in the last two years, you will use the same username and password as in the previous session(s).

eCOLLEGE

If your course requires the use of eCollege, your access to eCollege is at www.smcvtonline.org. Your login ID is the same as your Mikenet account (above) and your password is your SMC ID# (last seven digits).
