MA in TESOL on Campus

Students typically complete the full program in three or more semesters. The program’s full tuition at $21,000 is affordable. The program offers theoretical and methodological training that is integrated with practical coursework. Hybrid on-line programs are available as is conditional admission.

OnLine + OnCampus

For those who want maximum flexibility and convenience. Spend two consecutive summers in beautiful Vermont. Remaining course work (12 credits-4 courses) is completed on line. The summer session lasts 6 weeks from late June to early August. Upon successful completion, students receive MA degree in TESOL.

MATESOL Pathway Program

Saint Michael’s offers conditional admittance to the Master's in TESOL program and enrollment in its pathway program, which lasts one semester. This means you may improve your English in our Intensive English or Academic English courses until you reach the required level, and then transfer into the Master’s program. What better way to learn TESOL than to study in such a program yourself?

Summer Certificate in TESOL

This 4-week, 120-hour summer professional training program covers all essential aspects of English language teaching from a practical classroom perspective. It offers concrete experience with methods and techniques that reflect current principles of communicative language teaching and learning. Graduates of this program receive a Diploma in TESOL and are typically hired by English-language programs in the US and other countries.

Graduate Certificate in TESOL

Students who do not wish to pursue a full MA degree, or who have special training objectives in mind, may complete a 24-Credit Certificate Program. The certificate can be earned over two summer terms or two semesters, or on a part-time basis. Credits may be applied to the MATESOL degree.

Housing for Graduate Students

On-campus housing is available to international graduate students on a "first-come, first-served" basis for about $600/month, which includes a single room, all utilities, shared kitchen, shared bathroom, common space. Unfortunately, we are not in the position to accommodate family members. Saint Michael's will help students procure off-campus housing in an apartment or homestay situation.

Experienced Faculty

Our MATESOL faculty members hold their advanced degrees in linguistics or related fields and have extensive experience in TESOL. Collectively, they have decades of teaching and research experience in ESOL, applied linguistics, teacher education and training. They regularly present at the international TESOL conference, and some have authored textbooks with major ESL publishers in the U.S.

Graduates benefit from long time relationships with US and international institutions regarding the employment of our graduates. Employers routinely visit our campus to interview students for positions at their institutions.
