Saint Michael's Applied Linguistics Department was founded in 1954 in Burlington, Vermont. It is one of the oldest and most well-respected English-language and teacher-training programs in the United States. We offer three English Language Programs and five professional programs, including the Master of Arts in Teaching English to speakers of other languages.
Saint Michael's offers 29 different undergraduate majors, along with pre-law and pre-medical programs, and an extensive liberal arts core. With an average student-faculty ratio of 13:1, students are ensured personal attention from their professors, more than 90 percent of whom hold Ph.D.s or the terminal degree of their field.
