The Intensive English Program (IEP) is for students who want to learn or improve their English language skills. The program has different levels from low-intermediate to advanced study.
The Academic English Program (AEP) is designed for students who need to improve their English-language skills and plan to continue their study at a college or university in the United States. The AEP has two levels of study depending on the student's needs and abilities. Students in both Levels I and II receive college credit for the AEP.
Pathway Program
Students with no or little English wishing to prepare for university study in the United States may apply for Saint Michael's Pathway Program. Depending on their langauge level, they will start out in the IEP or AEP and transfer into the full-time undergraduate program within 1 or more semesters. Students will receive university credit while studying in this program.
TOEFL Preparation
An elective unit on TOEFL and SAT Preparation are available.
Group ESL Programs
Saint Michael’s welcomes groups of students from a single institution for Intensive English study. The programs may take place at any time during the year and can be customized according to the wishes of the institution. Programs include cultural activities, field trips, and other offerings. No pre-testing required. Special group rates are available. Diplomas and certificates are offered.
Summer Programs

Our home town, Burlington, offers restaurants, cafes, bars, and a stunning waterfront. There’s something for everyone in Vermont and plenty of it. Summer programs are available for individuals and groups.
