English Language Programs

The Intensive English Program (IEP) is for students who want to learn or improve their English language skills. The program has different levels from low-intermediate to advanced study.

The Academic English Program (AEP) is designed for students who need to improve their English-language skills and plan to continue their study at a college or university in the United States. The AEP has two levels of study depending on the student's needs and abilities. Students in both Levels I and II receive college credit for the AEP.

English for Specific Purposes (ESP)
Students with higher-level English may take specialized English-language courses that focus on particular subject. Programs include Business-English, English & International Relations, English & Hospitality Management, English& Nursing, etc. The ESP includes individual sessions with an academic advisor, cultural activities, field trips to such cities as Boston and Montreal, on-campus housing, apartment living with US students.

TOEFL Preparation
An elective unit on TOEFL Preparation is offered to ESL students.

Foundation Year or Semester
For high school graduates who wish to prepare for university at a university in the United States. Foundation Year students may take intensive English courses, pre-academic, and, if they wish, actual university courses with the supervision and assistance of a qualified instructor. Students may receive university credit while studying in this program in order to accelerate their university career.

Group ESL Programs
Saint Michael’s welcomes groups of students from a single institution for Intensive English study. The programs may take place at any time during the year and can be customized according to the wishes of the institution. Programs include cultural activities, field trips, and other offerings. No pre-testing required. Special group rates are available. Diplomas and certificates are offered.

Summer Programs

And Vermont’s summer climate is divine, offering fantastic outdoor activities including hiking, biking, and boating, etc. Summer in Vermont also means great music, theatre, and art. Our home town, Burlington, offers restaurants, cafes, bars, and a stunning waterfront. There’s something for everyone in Vermont and plenty of it. Summer programs are available for individuals and groups.
