At Saint Michael's the computer labs, classrooms, offices, and residential areas have full access, either through the wired or wireless network, to MIKENET, the Internet, and various online courseware and administrative applications. Saint Michael’s College provides both
network accounts and e-mail accounts for all students, faculty and staff. Saint Michael’s students are supplied with an "@mail.smcvt.edu" e-mail address, which is often used by faculty and administration when they need to communicate with students. This "email for life" also provides a way for alumni to stay in touch with campus life after they graduate. Faculty and staff are provided with an "@smcvt.edu" address.
The campus network, MIKENET, provides community access to network resources including high-speed Internet , email, printing, specialized course applications and the Library's online catalog and databases.
The campus cable TV service offers a wide range of channels. Popular broadcast stations, a campus bulletin board, and three academic campus cable channels are available.
College computers are installed with Microsoft Windows 7 Professional and Microsoft Office 2010 Professional (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook). As part of our Microsoft Campus Agreement, Microsoft Office for Windows is provided to students who purchase through the College's laptop program at no additional charge. Optionally, a license for Microsoft Office may be purchased from the campus bookstore at a significant discount for those who don't buy through the campus program.
Classroom technology includes projectors, SmartBoards, document cameras, and Crestron podium equipment. Our Pearson course management system, available to all students, is supplemented by Tegrity, a presentation capture system used by a growing number of instructors.
