Off-Campus Access

Proxy Access

You can access most of the library's online resources from off campus using your MikeNet account.  Click on the database or journal you would like to use and you will be prompted for your MikeNet username and password.  You will then be able to use almost any resource on the library website for up to an hour, at which point you may be prompted to log in again.

A couple of things to note:

  • Some firewalls, particularly in institutional networks, have high security settings that prevent use of proxy access.  If you get a firewall error message, you can talk to your system administrator about changing firewall settings or contact librarians (information below) about getting passwords for individual databases.

  • A few specialized databases have unusual configurations that will not allow proxy access, including Arden Shakespeare, History of Costume, and Library of Latin Texts.  These can only be used on campus.
