Schools of Nursing series (1899-1967)
Administrative History
The Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph played an important role in the formation of nurses to serve in hospitals. The first RHSJ Training School in Vermont was founded to provide professional nurses for the Fanny Allen Hospital. The Bishop DeGoesbriand Hospital School of Nursing administered by the RHSJ from Burlington Vermont, became an association in 1943 and was incorporated in 1945. In 1954, the FAH and the BDGH Schools of Nursing amalgamated to become the Jeanne Mance School of Nursing.
Scope and Content
This series consists of records from the FAH School of Nursing, the BDGH and Jeanne Mance Schools of Nursing; and Alumnae from FAH School.
Note
Among the few records contained in this series, there are the 649 files of former students at FAH School and a considerable amount of photos from different periods of its history.

Scope and Content
This subseries consists of the records created by and for the FAH School of Nursing and contains: history, by-laws, regulations, directories; Register of students; reports of visits by the U.S. Public Health Service; year books; pictures of nurses and graduating class; students files organized in chronological order. Copies of lists in alphabetical order are available for research.

Administrative History
The Fanny Allen Professional Nurses Alumnae was founded in 1909 on the 10th anniversary of the founding of the School. The Alumnae records were kept by the RHSJ’s archivist who was also the Association’s historian. All its members were women.
Scope and Content
This series consists of records of the Alumnae’s history and contains: Constitutions and By-laws; minutes of meetings; Scholarship Fund (later administered by the Fletcher Allen Auxiliaries); information on graduates and Cook books; pictures of Alumnae meetings and Guest books.
