Internet Sources

Virtual Religion Index A scholarly site designed to "advance research in matters of religion."  It is intended to serve as a portal to religion sources on the web, allowing students to spend more time with content and less time with search engines. 

Voice of the Shuttle   A scholarly site that provides links to sites, both scholarly and commercial about a variety of religions, practices and specific topics of a theological nature.  Also includes links to sites about famous figures.   

Beliefnet A commercial site with good general information about many faiths.  Includes articles and editorials relating faith to modern life and current affairs about current affairs, discussion groups and blogs.

The American Religion Data Archive(ARDA) is a project funded by the Lilly Endowment, Inc. and acts to preserve quantitative data on American religion, to improve access to this data, to increase the use of the data, and to allow comparisons across data files. The ARDA collection includes data on churches and church membership, religious professionals, and religious groups (individuals, congregations and denominations).

Online Bibliography Theology and Peace
Third edition published by the Institute for Theology and Peace, a research institute of the Catholic Church established in 1978.  Contains 112,000 titles.

The Catholic Encyclopedia
This is the full text of the 1913 edition of the Catholic Encyclopedia.  While better resources exist for most topics, the Catholic Encyclopedia online is a first stop for basic information about Catholic saints, Popes, religious sites and classical religious texts.  The Catholic Encyclopedia has been updated many times since this edition, and the most recent is available in the library at REF BX841 .N44 2003
