NESEI / Homework Club

This MOVE program was inspired by the grassroots organization New Sudan Education Initiative (NESEI) that was created by an alliance of Saint Michael’s College professors and Sudanese refugees.  The object of NESEI is to build secondary schools in Southern Sudan in order to build peace through education. This student program assists NESEI independently by fulfilling the program’s three main components:

  1. Fundraising for NESEI’s projects;
  2. Promoting Awareness about the organization as well as the current peace process in Sudan;
  3. Committing to Community Outreach through means of volunteering at a local elementary during homework club hours, which is designed to give refugee and international students additional assistance and one-on-one attention on their assignments.
