Saving for Others Furniture Association (SOFA) is a student-run program founded in the hope of creating an atmosphere of recycling at Saint Michael's College.
At the end of every school year, SOFA collects all furniture that would otherwise be thrown away by students or the college. The furniture is then stored over the summer at a local storage facility. SOFA resells these items each fall as students move on to campus. The program donates all proceeds to a nonprofit organization. This year, money raised went to The New Sudan Education Initiative (NESEI), an organization right down the road from our campus that works to build and sustain schools for children in southern Sudan.
