Aditeei Lagu of Essex Junction joined the Saint Michael’s College Human Resources Office in mid-August to fill the position of associate director of human resources – employment and diversity.
Lagu worked the past four-plus years for the State of Vermont in Burlington as a human resources manager, supporting three departments: Health, Mental Health and the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living. Her duties included training, employee investigations, employee relations and labor relations. Prior to her job with the state, she did similar work for the City of Burlington.
At Saint Michael’s, many of her job duties will resemble responsibilities at her former jobs, but with an emphasis on issues of diversity. She explained what attracted her to a job at the College: “I liked the passion with which people describe their careers at Saint Michael’s when I came here for the interview,” Lagu said. “I was impressed by my interactions with the people here and just the feel of the campus, and had a sense there is a lot of good work I can do here.”
She said she hopes that with her experience and background, she will be able to help advance the college’s mission through training initiatives and “bringing some fresh thoughts on diversity and inclusion in the community.” Her first priority will be “taking the time to know the campus culture and the people in this community better.”
Lagu has her MBA with a specialty in Human Resources, along with several certifications in her professional field. She also is the diversity director for the Society for Human Resource Management’s Vermont State Council. She enjoys reading, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her husband and 14-month-old daughter. Her first day was August 17.
