Rev. Brian J. Cummings, SSE '86, director of Saint Michael's Campus Ministry, was cited in the Vermont Business Journal for organizing a campaign at Saint Michael's in support of the Food Shelf. The college's campaign raised $25,000 to support local families.

The Salem News reported on this venture, and on how he grew his customer base by entering customers in a raffle to win sandals, jeans, backpacks and other merchandise. Backlash builds as Dora the Explorer trades adventure for fashion

An older, more feminine version of the chartoon character, Dora the Explorer, is being created for girls ages five and up, due to a new trend in which most girls seem to outgrow Dora by age four, reported The Globe and Mail news source. The story mentions how Dr. Sharon Lamb, professor of psychology at Saint Michael's, created a petition to counter this character change stating that younger girls need a role model similar to the adventure-bound version of Dora.
