The Saint Michael's College Early Learning Center exists primarily to deliver quality child care to the youngest members of the Saint Michael's College community. These young members, from infancy to school age, will find a nurturing, loving and intellectually stimulating environment which mirrors the larger community of Saint Michael's College. More specifically, the Early Learning Center will provide opportunities and a curriculum for children to grow and develop within an orderly, supportive environment in which cognitive, social and physical needs are met. The Center will also provide an opportunity for students of human growth and development to observe and interact with children as they play, discover and learn.
The Center follows the accreditation guidelines set forth by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs.
We are committed to excellence in early childhood education. As professionals, we act as a resource and role model for the Saint Michael’s College Community and the community at large. Our continued professional growth and development is crucial to the high quality care that we provide.
In keeping with the missions and goals of Saint Michael's College, the Early Learning Center seeks to provide an environment in which each child can reach her or his full potential. Specific goals include respect for self and others, appreciation of individual differences, non-violence, sharing and health awareness. The Early Learning Center recognizes the uniqueness of each child and that parents know their children best. The staff is committed to working with parents to provide the most appropriate care for their child. The potential for daily communication between parents and staff enhances further the opportunity to meet the children's needs. The Center views its role as that of an extension of the family, not as a substitute for the family. With a comfortable facility and a professional, caring staff, we hope each child will benefit from the Early Learning Center and its program.
