Alumni Profile

Mary Kate Oliver '06

Regional Director, Alumni Affairs and Development, Harvard University

While at Saint Michael’s College, Mary Kate Oliver (Moore) ‘06 appreciated a lot of what the College offers. She was fond of the small classroom size, and the flexibility of the liberal arts curriculum, which requires students to take a certain number of courses outside of their major and/or minor. The service element of life at St. Mike’s is also something that Mary Kate looks back upon fondly. “Most students are involved with the Founders Society, MOVE, mentoring; those were experiences that were meaningful to me as an undergraduate. When I left school I wanted to ensure that I would have those enriching opportunities outside of my professional life. For that reason I am a Freshman Advisor at Harvard University.”

Oliver works in the Alumni Affairs and Development office of Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences as a Regional Director, Capital Giving, covering the New York and Chicago areas. At the University since graduating from Saint Michael’s College, in different capacities, Oliver says she’s not the only St. Mike’s alumni. “We still have a little cohort of us. On Purple and Gold Day we will get together and take a picture.”

Since college, Oliver has met others within the St. Mike’s community that she has grown close with, “some of the people I didn’t even know while I was on campus, but because we had that common link we have grown close.”
