European philosophy from the 19th century to the present (especially Heidegger and Nietzsche). I am also interested in the thought of Spinoza, Plotinus, Emerson, Meister Eckhart, Taoism, and Vedanta.

I wrote "Proximity in Distance: Levinas and Plotinus," in Levinas and the Ancients (Indiana University Press, 2008). I am currently writing on the non-identifiable aspect of our self and the world.

Life Off Campus:
I enjoy art exhibitions, music, literature, writing, and the company of friends. I live in Paris when the College is not in session.
