Campus Security

We are fortunate that the state of Vermont has one of the lowest crime rates in the nation.  Nevertheless, our Department of Safety and Security works hard to ensure that the entire Saint Michael's community stays safe.

The Saint Michael’s Campus is patrolled 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week by foot, mobile and bicycle officers who handle routine locking schedules, security, plant and fire safety checks, and respond to incidents or reported problems.

Each officer has received extensive orientation and on-job training. All officers have attended the Northeast Security Officers Academy sponsored by the Campus Security Directors of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Several have previous law enforcement experience and two officers are certified as Mountain Bike Patrol. The department provides annual in-service training for its officers which includes, but is not limited to: legal update, crime prevention, fire safety, human relations, stress management, CPR and first aid.
