TREK Community Service Orientation Program

TREK is an opportunity to explore the world of community service in the Chittenden County area. Along with staff from the MOVE (Mobilization of Volunteer Efforts) office, previous participants serve as student leaders. TREKers come to Saint Michael’s to help maintain a mountain trail, prepare and enjoy dinner with people who are homeless, conduct activities with children, visit with senior citizens or participate in several other service projects. There is also time to meet future classmates, try out a ropes course, spend time in downtown Burlington and explore Vermont’s great outdoors. Space is limited and we can only accept 10 students.

TREK is sponsored by MOVE, the campus office devoted to connecting Saint Michael’s College students with meaningful community service initiatives in our surrounding communities and our world. As a component of the Office of Edmundite Ministry, MOVE recognizes that service is a distinct part of the Edmundite tradition and our Catholic heritage.

What do you do on TREK?
TREK is a mixture of service projects, team building activities, and leisure time which allows you to engage with other students to find out more about the service opportunities available on campus, as well as gather information about the college to help you make a smooth transition into college life.

Cost
The TREK fee is $175 which covers food, sleeping arrangements, an outdoor adventure course and all evening activities.

2009 TREK Dates:

August 23-27, Sunday-Thursday
