Fall and Spring Semesters in Thailand – Payap University, Chiang Mai

Long referred to as the “Rose of the North,” Chiang Mai remains the cultural heart of Thailand. Located 500 miles north of Bangkok, Chiang Mai is country’s second largest city and is a fascinating blend of ancient and modern worlds. Students participating in SMC’s Thailand exchange program attend classes at Payap University and live with Thai and other international students in the newly built Paradornparp International House. All students take a class in Thai language, but content courses are taught in English. Whether you harbor a life long interest in Southeast Asia or just a newly developed curiosity about Thai customs, religion, history, politics or economy, consider participating in this very special program in beautiful Chiang Mai. You will soon experience the charm and complexities of Thailand, the Land of Smiles.

A Semester or Summer in Mexico - Universidad de las Americas, Puebla (UDLA)

Get firsthand knowledge of Latin America in a safe and beautiful     environment at the Universidad de las Americas in Puebla, Mexico.   Great for any major.  Take Spanish language courses and content courses in business, literature and Mexican culture (In English or Spanish).

Study with Mexican, US and other international students.  Live with a local family or in townhouse dorms at this contemporary Mexican university located high on a plateau two hours from Mexico City.  Enjoy the Indian villages and the Spanish colonial cities.  Climb Aztec pyramids, travel to rainforests, play intramural sports, perform community service and make wonderful Mexican friends.

Learn and Teach in England - Advanced Studies in England (ASE)

Specifically designed for elementary and secondary education students, the Advanced Studies in England program gives you a "brilliant" semester in the World Heritage City of Bath, England. Students take a theory course linked with a supervised practicum in a local British school.  Program excursions include visits to Oxford (students take up residency at University College, the oldest of Oxford's colleges) and to Stratford-upon-Avon. 

Enjoy British university life, compare the educational systems in the US and the UK, and flouish academically and personally in a supportive, caring environment. Strengthen your education portfolio and gain great skills for your teaching back in Vermont!  

A Semester or Two in Japan - Kansai Gaidai University, Osaka

Are you fascinated with everything Japanese but haven't been able to visit Japan? With at least one semester of Japanese and a 3.0 GPA, you could   continue your Japanese language study plus take interesting liberal studies courses about Japan - but in Japan! See it for yourself! Study with US, International and Japanese students. Take business, management, art and culture classes - all in English! Enjoy Japanese college life. Live with a family or in a dorm, participate in a university "club", and explore the culture. Kansai Gaidai students also student abroad in the USA at Saint Michael's College.  


 

A Different Fall or Spring Experience in Japan – Musashi University, Tokyo

If political science, economics, history and Japanese culture are your passions, Musashi University is an ideal setting for your semester abroad.  Located just 15 minutes away by train from downtown Tokyo, the Ekoda based campus offers a small, friendly learning community with ample opportunities to integrate into Japanese university life. Use the nation's capital as your learning environment for one semester! Immerse yourself in two 4-credit seminars, a 4-credit internship and a 4-credit research project - in subject areas ranging from American Politics to International Environment and Development to Journalism to Economic Policy. National experts are your guest speakers and classes are held throughout the city. Talk to policy makers, test your job skills in a meaningful work environment, and live in this thriving metropolis on the residential Tenley Campus of American University.
