About Us

Heather J. Ellis, Sustainability Coordinator

Heather J. Ellis was hired in July 2008 as Saint Michael's first Sustainability Coordinator. Heather facilitates the development of strategies for incorporating environmental sustainability into the academic, residential and operational activities of Saint Micahel's College. She also serves as the single point of contact on environmental sustainability topics and activities.

Heather has been in the sustainability field since her undergrad career at the University of New Hampshire, where she received her Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Conservation with a concentration in Environmental Affairs in May 2007. Interested in how institutions of Higher Education were playing a role in reducing their impact on the environment, she worked as the Campus Climate Intern at the Northeast's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to finding and promoting solutions to global warming, Clean Air-Cool Planet. Heather spent the past year in Durango, Colorado as the Environmental Center Intern at Fort Lewis College, where, among other things, she organized the campus community around environmental action and fostered dialogue throughout the entire campus and Durango community on how to create the college's first Sustainability Action Plan.
