Jenny Stearns of the Saint Michael’s education faculty made a presentation to a Vermont state Task Force, the Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children, on January 28. The director of the Task Force has now featured Jenny’s presentation in this VTAEYC publication, which was distributed across the state on February 5. Explains Jenny, “The Unifying Framework is part of the Power to the Profession movement, which is advocating for advancing the Early Childhood Education (ECE) profession nationally. This has received much more attention recently as the Covid pandemic has highlighted the vital importance of providing early childcare. My presentation focused on implementing the Unifying Framework with the staff team at the Early Learning Center (ELC). We are the first, (and so far, the only) ECE center in VT to do this.” Susan Titterton, project coordinator, wrote about Jenny’s presentation: “Jenny Stearns, ECE Coordinator and faculty member at Saint Michael’s College, presented her experience as a board member of the newly reopened Early Learning Center (ELC). As the center planned its reopening, they applied aspects of the Unifying Framework for the Early Childhood Education Profession – specifically the three designations with related compensation.”|
