I’m new to St. Michael’s College, but have been teaching public health classes for over a decade. Through the years, teaching has been a wonderful complement to my “day jobs”, which have included:

    • Chronic Disease Surveillance for the Vermont and New Hampshire Public Health Departments
    • Clinical Quality Improvement and Program Management for non-profit organizations
    • Malaria Clinical Trial management in Kenya

I love introducing students to the engaging and ever-changing field of public health! My primary teaching goal is to ensure that students are able to delve into topics that excite and inspire them. I hope students come away from my classes feeling energized to learn more, and aware of the breadth of careers that can make meaningful impacts on the health of populations.

    Research

My current research examines the implementation of off-site COVID-19 testing centers. Although they play a crucial role in containing the spread of COVID-19, they have been challenged by insufficient resources and the quickly evolving nature of the pandemic. Our initial findings, which describe considerations for off-site testing centers, are published here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2213076420300488.

My earlier research focused on the prevention of malaria and anemia in infants: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2848869/

    Life Off Campus:

I live in Hinesburg and enjoy organic gardening and permaculture. My husband and I planted over 100 different varieties of fruit and nut trees on our property, and have raised ducks and bees. My other interests include yoga, ballet, cross-country skiing, and hiking.
