Interview

I specialize in American and British modernism with a particular interest in the relationship between modernism and contemporary philosophy of language and mind. My research attempts to place modernist conceptualizations of knowledge in dialogue with early-twentieth century logic and epistemology and focuses on the writings of Virginia Woolf, Ezra Pound, Bertrand Russell, and Gottlob Frege. I am also the former Associate Editor of English Literary History and served as Director of the Johns Hopkins University Writing Center.

Recent News

Will Marquess, instructor of English, who has been involved with the Onion River Review, the annual campus literary/arts journal,  since his first year at the College in 1984-85, presided on April 5 in the Hoehl Welcome Center over his last springtime “launch” party for the Review’s latest edition. Tim Mackin of the Writing Center, will take of Will’s position as the Review adviser next year.
