Best of all, we are just a few minutes from downtown Burlington and Lake Champlain, home to a full calendar of cultural events and many festivals during the summer. Your SMC ID provides free access to CCTA (local bus route) for transportation to and from Burlington, and the rest of Chittenden County.
On the Sample Activities Calendar above you will see a multitude of events and activities hosted by two of the largest groups we have on campus: The Adventure Sports Center and our MOVE volunteer service organization. We encourage you to stop by their offices or participate in their events in your free time while attending ASC.
Adventure Sports Center
St. Mike’s Adventure Sports Center (formerly Wilderness Program) is the coolest (and often, the coldest) way to challenge yourself and explore the natural wonders of our northern New England location.
Hike. Rock climb. Ice climb. Kayak. Ski. You’ll develop skills, practice environmental stewardship and have a blast. You might even find yourself training to lead programs – it’s intense, and amazing. Even if you’ve never been into the great outdoors before, you’ll find lots of ways to go wild. As your skills grow, you may find yourself in locations as far-flung as Joshua Tree National Park, Western Canada or the Massai Mara in Kenya.
And, our outfitter has all the equipment necessary for your explorations. All you need is a sense of adventure.
Discover what moves you!
Mobilization of Volunteer Efforts (MOVE) shows service is the heart of the Saint Michael's community. MOVE is a volunteer service organization that almost 70% of students participate in. With so many programs to choose from it really allows you to fit around your academics. From working with children, to building up communities, and many hands on programs and even working side-by-side with another service organization, you can become part of the Saint Michael's experience.
