Minors: Religious Studies
Graduate degree: MA in Teaching Latin, Hunter College
What do you do for a living?
I am a full-time high school Latin teacher at the Harvey School in Katonah, N.Y. I teach five sections consisting of Latin 2, 3, 4, and 5 and I am also the assistant coach of the varsity basketball team and the head coach of the JV tennis teams.
How did your experience at Saint Michael's help prepare you for your career?
Without my academic experience at St Mikes, I would have never developed a love for the Classics. Although I did not get a degree in education from St. Mikes, I tutored extensively and gained experience in teaching through setting up study groups for Latin and Greek.
What is your favorite memory from your time at St. Mike's?
Greek class with Mrs Professor Begley and raking leaves for Professor Conley. Without the insistence and individualized encouragement I received from Mr Professor Begley, I would have never taken Latin in college (I had dropped it in high school). This was formative for the rest of my career. Thank you.
Any advice for students at St. Mike's?
Be open to the advice of your Professors. Follow your passions. Don't overthink. Surround yourself with peers from multiple facets of the campus. Study groups are fun. Make them yourself.
