Harrigan drew inspiration from the Champlain Mills and other industrial structures that remain part of the local architectural landscape. His research on the American Woolen Company and collaboration with then-history Professor Susan Ouellete led him to learn some of the stories of young women who worked in the mills in Winooski\, as well as those in many other towns\, including Lowell\, Massachusetts. The play explores how these women contributed to the world but also challenged it while advocating for themselves and others. \nAll performances are free and open to the public\, but tickets must be reserved using the EventBrite link below.

DESCRIPTION:Lydia Kern\, “Torch Songs” \nArtist talk – Thursday\, November 6\, from 5 to 6 p.m.\nGallery reception – Thursday\, November 6\, from 6 to 7 p.m. \nSculptor and installation artist Lydia Kern reclaims natural\, mundane\, and ceremonial found materials to create wayfinders for ineffable experiences. Wholly devoted to each object\, she creates metaphoric relationships between disparate materials\, carefully sewing\, wrapping\, and sealing everything together into a new meaning. Her sculptures are narrative structures in which emotion\, symbology\, mysticism\, tragedy\, and transcendence echo. There will be an artist talk from 5-6PM in Cheray 101 followed by a gallery reception from 6-7PM. This event is free and open to the public.

DESCRIPTION:Managerial Ethics (BU103) is raising money for the non-profit Wreaths Across America. This organization raises money to put wreaths on the headstones of veterans who have passed away. One wreath costs $17. This year\, the goal for Vermont is to get 4\,800 wreaths sponsored by December 13. Our class is organizing a dodgeball tournament on November 9 at 3:30 p.m. in Tarrant to help raise money for the cause. The cost per team is $25\, or $5 per person. We hope to get many people involved and raise money for a good cause!

DESCRIPTION:MediSun will present a lecture on the history of Reggae and Rastafari. The lecture and conversation to follow will provide a foundational understanding of how equity and justice show up in the lived experiences of Jamaican – and Caribbean- people. He explains how reggae music and performance are an expression of the struggles of ‘the people’ over generations. DESCRIPTION:Saint Michael’s College Institute for Equity and Justice presents E&J ‘Inna Reggae Style’ with three men of the African Diaspora now living in New England. An event honoring the legacy of Vermont’s own Bobby Hackney in conversation with Edwin Owusu of Ghanaian heritage and MediSun of Caribbean heritage. The conversation brings together three musical migration narratives beginning with Detroit and ‘A Band Called Death’ and a migration to Vermont that gave birth to the Reggae band Lambsbread. Bobby Hackney mentored Edwin Owusu who’s known in Hip Hop circles as MC SINNN. MediSun comes to us from a Caribbean community in Boston\, Massachusetts as a son of the Afro-Caribbean Diaspora.
