Our hope is to cater to students and other members of campus who are staying on campus for the long break. This event will be staffed entirely by students in the class and will run from 2-5 pm in the Alliot Lobby on Friday December 6th. We will accept any items students\, faculty\, or staff are willing to donate\, but are specifically interested in personal hygiene items\, gluten free/vegetarian items\, fruit\, vegetables\, cereal\, and pasta (as well as other sources of grain and carbs).

DESCRIPTION:Post Election – Moving Forward Together – Gallery Walk \nMonday\, January 20\, at 9:15 a.m.\nFarrell Room\, Saint Edmund’s Hall \nOnce all the campaigning and voting is over\, we are left to process the results and prepare for the newly elected to take office. When these results aren’t what we hoped for\, the prevailing narrative that we are divided can feel true and the future can seem less hopeful. There is another option– we can seek understanding and move forward together as a nation. Faculty\, staff\, & students are invited to the gallery walk to quietly reflect on questions such as: What do the outcomes of the election mean to you and your community? How are you planning to move forward? What is your experience interacting or staying connected to others you care about who feel differently about the election? Our Founding Fathers’ Ideas about Race\, Gender\, & Citizenship in 1787 with Alexandra Garrett\, Assistant Professor\, SMC History Dept.  \nThis talk will do a deep dive into who\, exactly\, the Founding Fathers conceived as “counting” in the political body of a new country called United States. The answers may surprise you! Dr. Garrett will give the historical background of where and why white people\, Black people\, indigenous people\, and immigrants appeared in our country’s founding document\, and connect our past to our current unequal society.

We will examine and discuss the 6 tenets promoted by the King Center and the Saint Michael’s College Beloved Community Statements.
