This 4-week, 120-hour summer professional training program covers all essential aspects of English language teaching from a practical classroom perspective. It offers concrete experience with methods and techniques that reflect current principles of communicative language teaching and learning. Graduate Certificate in TESOL
Students who do not wish to pursue a full MA degree, or who have special training objectives in mind, may complete a 24-Credit Certificate Program. The certificate can be earned over two summer terms or two semesters, or on a part-time basis. Credits may be applied to the MATESOL degree.
Housing for Graduate Students
On-campus housing is available to international graduate students on a "first-come, first-served" basis for about $600/month, which includes a single room, all utilities, shared kitchen, shared bathroom, common space. Unfortunately, we are not in the position to accommodate family members. Saint Michael's will help students procure off-campus housing in an apartment or homestay situation.
Our MATESOL faculty members hold their advanced degrees in linguistics or related fields and have extensive experience in TESOL. Collectively, they have decades of teaching and research experience in ESOL, applied linguistics, teacher education and training. They regularly present at the international TESOL conference, and some have authored textbooks with major ESL publishers in the U.S.
Graduates benefit from long time relationships with US and international institutions regarding the employment of our graduates. Employers routinely visit our campus to interview students for positions at their institutions.
