We support our alumni no matter what stage of the career development process they are in. We do everything from helping with the job search to career change planning. Alumni are also critical in helping our students plan for life after college through mentoring, job shadowing, and attending networking events.

The Job Shadow Program is offered through the Career Education and Alumni Engagement Center to provide students the opportunity to discover different career paths by shadowing alumni in their workplace.
We invite alumni who are out of college three years or more, employed full-time and have the ability to host a student at their place of employment to create a profile in SMC Connect. Under “How Can You Help?” please choose “finding a job shadow/externship opportunity” so students interested in your career field can find you.
Please note: For the safety and welfare of our students, alumni who work from home may not offer a job shadow experience.
Please email Angie Armour ’99, director of alumni engagement for more information.
Looking for a way to advance your career? Here are some tips to get started:
Attend one of the many regional career networking events hosted by the Alumni Engagement Office.
SMC Connect: network with fellow alumni and join communities in specific industries, locations, and shared interests.
Handshake: create an account linked to your employer profile to share job opportunities with SMC students. You can also view jobs if you create an account as an alumnus with a separate email address. With this account, you can also make an appointment with a career coach.
