Electrical Engineer with British Petroleum

What did you study at Saint Michael's? What activities did you participate in?

I am originally from Fairbanks, Alaska and graduated from the Saint Michael's 3+2 program in 2011. The 3+2 program is affiliated with the University of Vermont, as well, and helped me get my degree in electrical engineering. I am member of Tau Beta Pi (the Engineering Honors Society) and Pi Mu Epsilon (the Math Honors Society) and was a forward and defenseman on the Men's Hockey team while at Saint Mike's, as well as a Wilderness Program climbing and kayaking instructor.

What did you appreciate the most about Saint Michael's?

It's hard to pick just one thing. I know it's the standard answer, but I'd have to say the community I found on campus. The relationships I built with my professors in the Engineering department and my other professors in liberal studies, the friendships I built with my teammates on the Men's Hockey team, or as a climbing and kayaking instructor in the Wilderness Program - they are all relationships that will last a lifetime.

What advice would you give new Saint Michael's students?

For students coming from farther away, I would say that the connections I built on campus helped quickly make St. Mike's feel like home, even though it was over 4,000 miles from the home I grew up in.
