What did you appreciate most about your Saint Michael's College experience? I appreciated my friends and all of the efforts St. Mike's went through to bring us together. My senior-year roommates and I were all assigned to the same wing of Lyons Hall our freshman year. Through freshman orientation, campus events, and classes, the five of us formed friendships in our first semester of college that have continued well beyond Freshman Seminar and our first P-Day.
What are you doing now? Working as an Assistant Engineer for the County of Monmouth in New Jersey, where I am involved in projects ranging from solar lighting and energy management to large-scale building construction and renovation projects.
How do you apply what you learned at Saint Michael's College to your professional life? As an Engineering student, attending St. Mike's was not an obvious choice. Where most engineering schools offer a solely technical curriculum, the St Mike's dual-degree program made me a more well-rounded and marketable engineer. Within a few weeks of starting my first "real" job, it became apparent to myself and my supervisors that my writing and communication skills were beyond what was expected from a typical engineer with my level of experience. I attribute this to my liberal arts education and experiences at St Mike's.
What did you like about Saint Michael's College's location? Have you returned to campus? I liked the proximity to the mountains. Growing up at the Jersey Shore, the mountains offered a different experience and provided recreational activities year round. During my time at St Mike's I was an Instructor for the Wilderness Program which allowed me to take advantage of sorts of outdoor adventures. I returned to campus in the fall for Alumni weekend.
What advice would you give new Saint Michael's students? Have fun and enjoy your time at Saint Michael's College because it goes by quick, but don't forget to call home at least once a week.
What would you like fellow alumni to know about you? My father, Paul Molzon Sr. '76, also graduated from St. Mike's, as well as my brother, Paul Molzon Jr. '08.
