Emergency Medical Technician Course
The Emergency Medical Technician course, covers emergency medical systems, anatomy and physiology, trauma and medical emergency management, and real-world EMS operations.
From rural floods to urban heat waves, there has been an increase of national emergencies and environmental disasters. Saint Michael’s recognizes the need for trained responders and rapid mobilization strategies to meet the growing need for emergency readiness.
Saint Michael’s College is now offering training that meets nationally recognized certification standards for both our students and community members so we can build emergency readiness that centers real people and creates a blueprint for how local governments, private partners, and community institutions and organizations can work together to save lives and build long-term resilience.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Course Information
An opportunity for individuals ready to step into the life-saving field of emergency medical services (EMS). This comprehensive program not only equips students with essential skills but also addresses critical workforce shortages affecting Vermont’s EMS system.

- Cost: $1400 (does not include text and testing platform)

This is a competency-based course that features hands-on training and skill-building labs. The comprehensive curriculum covers emergency medical systems, anatomy and physiology, trauma and medical emergency management, and real-world EMS operations. There is no skills exam at the end of the course.
Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Course Information
The Advanced EMT course follows the national EMS Scope of Practice model to expand the Emergency Medical Technician’s knowledge and skills in preparation for certification and licensure. Course topics include advanced assessment, airway/ventilation skills, vascular access, and medication administration. Participants must currently be licensed by the State of Vermont as EMTs and provide proof of sponsorship by a Vermont ambulance or first response service.
