Announcement Regarding Reunion 2021
Dear Purple Knights,
I hope that you and your loved ones are remaining healthy and safe. We very much enjoy hearing from you, and we very much wish that we could hold an in-person reunion this year. It is with great disappointment, therefore, that I share the news that for the second year in a row, we will be unable to hold an in-person reunion in June. Though having vaccines on the horizon brings us great hope, there is still a long way to go before substantial numbers of people receive the vaccine, so it will not be feasible to bring hundreds of alumni and their families in from across the country given the current and projected state of affairs.
That said, reunion will continue! We will do it in the safe, online format to which we have all grown accustomed. We all have Zoom fatigue, but when you see old friends and share laughs and stories, I assure you the format will take a backseat to the fun. The Alumni Engagement team will be offering a wide variety of online events during reunion weekend, June 3-6, and they will be sharing a schedule with you in the coming months. I know the team is hoping to resume in-person events this fall (if not sooner), and they are planning class-specific events in regional cities like Boston and New York, as well as on campus.
I hope that you are able to take part in the online reunion in June. In the meantime, renew old bonds with your friends and classmates, post photos, share stories and memories, make playlists of songs from your time at Saint Michael’s, whatever you can do to make this unusual reunion special. We will do our part to make it a positive and joyful experience for you. And when the pandemic is behind us, we will have even more reasons to celebrate.
Thank you, Purple Knights. Please stay healthy and well. We look forward to celebrating with you in June.
