MediSun will present a lecture on the history of Reggae and Rastafari. The lecture and conversation to follow will provide a foundational understanding of how equity and justice show up in the lived experiences of Jamaican – and Caribbean- people. He explains how reggae music and performance are an expression of the struggles of ‘the people’ over generations. MediSun takes the audience on an intellectual and academic journey from ‘folk music’ to Ska to Rock Steady to Reggae providing insight into how the music is born out of the struggle of Ethiopians who were taken to the West.
