Lydia Kern, “Torch Songs”

Gallery reception – Thursday, November 6, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Sculptor and installation artist Lydia Kern reclaims natural, mundane, and ceremonial found materials to create wayfinders for ineffable experiences. Wholly devoted to each object, she creates metaphoric relationships between disparate materials, carefully sewing, wrapping, and sealing everything together into a new meaning. Her sculptures are narrative structures in which emotion, symbology, mysticism, tragedy, and transcendence echo. There will be an artist talk from 5-6PM in Cheray 101 followed by a gallery reception from 6-7PM. This event is free and open to the public.
