JAMES GAROFANO, Clifton Park, NY, died August 20, 2023. After college, the Rutland native worked at the Brandon Training School in Vermont as a counselor before leaving to obtain his master’s in social work (MSW) at the University of Connecticut. He subsequently worked for the West Hartford School System in Connecticut as a school psychologist for many years. After retirement he moved to Clifton Park, NY.  Jim was an accomplished pianist and organist, beginning his musical career in high school as a member of the Academite Combo and organist for Masses celebrated at Loretto Home and the sisters of Saint Joseph’s private chapel on Convent Avenue. At Saint Michael’s he became the accompanist for the Glee Club when the group was a featured attraction all over the eastern United States. He even was acknowledged on the record that the Glee Club made with Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong when Armstrong gave a concert in Burlington. He was known for his humor and generosity, Jim is survived by a son, a sister, a brother and extended family.
