John A. “Andy” Glutting, Hull, MA, died February 25, 2025.
Andy’s early years were spent in Boston and summers at Green Hill. As the son of a rear admiral, he moved several times, including living in Shanghai as a child. He attended St. John’s Prep before coming to Saint Michael’s and completed his education at the University of Rhode Island in economics.
He joined the Navy and completed flight school, becoming a helicopter pilot. He flew in Vietnam as well as a brief stint for Air America in Laos. He rejoined the Navy and retired as a commander in 1978.
An avid athlete, Andy enjoyed tennis and ran multiple marathons, completing the Boston Marathon at the age of 60. He was particularly proud of building his own home on family land in Hull after attending the Shelter Institute in Maine.
Andy is survived by his wife, Cyndie, a son, a daughter, a stepson, two stepdaughters and extended family. His former wife and the mother of his children, June Roberts, predeceased him.
