JOHN BRODER, Rockville Centre, NNY, died October 12, 2023. After Saint Michael’s he served in the Army during the Vietnam War, and after his honorable discharge in 1970, he went on to a successful career as a hospital administrator focusing on fundraising, development, marketing and government affairs. He started at Columbia Presbyterian, followed by Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and concluded his career at Winthrop University Hospital. He earned an MBA from Iona College in 1977. He was very active in his community, including the Lions Club (president for several years), Mineola Chamber of Commerce and Rockville Centre Education Foundation. The New York State Senate honored him upon his retirement, stating “In his official acts, John P. Broder was governed by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems.” He was an avid golfer, especially in retirement. He also enjoyed gardening, home improvement projects and spending time with his family. He is survived by wife, Josephine, a son, a daughter, three brothers, two sisters including Jacqueline Walker ’78, and extended family including brother-in-law Gerald Ingrisano ’75.
