John M. Latus ’54

Mesa – John M. Latus was born to Marion and Ed Latus in Rochester, N.Y. on June 21st, 1932. Along with his brother Mike, the family moved to Weymouth, MA. where he attended Weymouth High School. John enjoyed spending time at the family’s summer home on Cape Cod.

John later attended and graduated from St. Michael’s College in Vermont, where he was also in the USAF ROTC program. John joined the Air Force and completed flight school with the 56-I training class (Skunk Flight Team) in Big Springs, Texas.

After his stint as jet fighter pilot, 1st Lieutenant Latus got his MBA at Columbia Business School. He was then lucky enough to meet and marry the late Carol Croke of Boston, who blessed him with three boys: Jeff, Greg and the late Mark Latus.

For over 25 years, John worked in different advertising agencies in Chicago and San Francisco, before co-founding his own agency in Boston.

John split his retirement time between Arizona and the family home in Cape Cod, where he was an avid fisherman, golfer and competitive tennis player.

John passed away in his Arizona home, in the company of his wife Laurel.
