M. Patricia Kennedy M’61

M. Patricia Kennedy, Winooski, VT, died September 27, 2023.

She was a lifelong St. Albans resident, where her father was postmaster. She was the last surviving grandchild of Captain Thomas B. Kennedy, who is memorialized in the Civil War mural in the Cedar Creek Room of Vermont’s capitol.

Patricia was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and Trinity College of Vermont, Class of 1951. She earned her master’s at Saint Michael’s and her doctorate at Nova University.

Her teaching career included Poultney High School (1951-1955) and Waterbury High School (1955-1959) as head of their respective business departments. In 1959, she began teaching at Vermont College in Montpelier and joined the Norwich University faculty in 1972. She retired from full-time teaching at Norwich in 1995 and part-time in 2000. She was awarded Emerita Professor of Management at the time of her retirement.

Among her services were consultant of Trinity College from 1977-1982 and as a trustee 1982-1991; In 1991 she was elected to the board of trustees at Vermont Catholic Charities Inc. and at the end of her terms continued to serve as a consultant to the board until 2008.

Pat was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in St. Albans. The family would like to thank the staff of Our Lady of Providence, Dr. N. Anton Borja, and BAYADA Hospice for their competent and compassionate care for Pat.

Pat is survived by extended family.
