SOMERSET-Norman Corriveau, age 89, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025 at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River. He was the beloved husband of Rachelle (Beaudoin) Corriveau, to whom he was wed for 56 years.

Born in Central Falls, RI on February 2, 1936, he was the son of the late Adelard and Cecile (Lefebvre) Corriveau. At age 12, Norman began his religious life upon joining the high school formation center of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in Sharon, MA. He pronounced his first vows on completing his novitiate year in 1952. He began his teaching career in September 1953 in Sharon, MA, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Michael’s College in Winooski, VT in 1961, attending college courses during his summers. He received his Master’s Degree in Teaching Science from RI College in 1971.

In August 1962, he volunteered to become a missionary teacher at the Secondary School of Gokomere Mission in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) Africa. He enjoyed it very much until serious health issues made him decide to be dispensed of his religious vows and return to secular life in October 1967. In 1969, he married Rachelle who was widowed with two young daughters, Suzanne and Marguerite, whom he adopted in February 1971. He continued teaching chemistry for 30 more years at Seekonk High School until his retirement in 1998. He really enjoyed teaching high school, taking much pride in the outcome of his former students. In 1999, he was soon employed part-time by the National Shrine of Our Lady of LaSalette in Attleboro in accounting while still remaining very active in volunteering for the two Summer High School Conferences of East Steubenville weekends in each of the 13 years at LaSalette National Shrine.

Norman was a man of deep faith and a very active member of St. Mary’s Church in Seekonk and in Norton, a Lay Eucharistic Minister since 1973, teaching religious education classes until age 77, singing in church choirs, a 2001 Marian Medal Recipient in the Fall River Diocese, being President of St. Vincent DePaul Society in the Norton Conference and receiving the “Top Hat” Award, an active member of the Massachusetts Knights of Columbus as Supreme Delegate to the 2007 Convention in Tennessee, Grand Knight of the Norton Council #11690, and Faithful Navigator of the Cardinal O’Connell 4th Degree Assembly #394. In December 2015, he and Rachelle moved to Somerset, MA. He became an active communicant of St. Thomas More Church, joining the church choir and the parish’s St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Norm and Rachelle enjoyed camping in the Starcraft Camper Club from 1972 to 1985, square-dancing with the Merry Jesters of Attleboro, and playing cards with family and friends. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox, the Boston Bruins, and the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed gardening lots of vegetables.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Suzanne Medeiros of Somerset and Marguerite Foster and her husband Rodney of Seekonk;  three grandchildren, Hayley Maynard and her husband Nathaniel of Attleboro, Autumn Foster Tibbetts and Hope Foster;  his brothers, Father Ernest Corriveau M.S. of the Shrine of Our Lady of LaSalette and Richard “Dick” Corriveau and his wife Deloris of Scituate, RI, his sister, Lucille (Corriveau) Ogden and her husband Jeff of Coventry, RI;  his Godchild and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
