Robert B. Spawn ’82

Robert B. Spawn, Novato, CA, died October 13, 2023.

Rob attended Delbarton School in New Jersey (class of ’78), where his formative years were spent skiing and surfing with classmates who would become lifelong friends.

After graduating from Saint Michael’s, Rob embarked on his professional journey with Merrill Lynch in Manhattan and later worked for Oppenheimer & Co. and Cowen & Co. The course of his career would eventually take him from New York to New Jersey and back again to New York before heading West: first, to Las Vegas, and eventually, San Francisco. Along the way, he garnered a reputation for being firm but fair, and the bonds he formed with his colleagues would remain some of his most valued through the end.

A fittingly self-described “action buff,” Rob’s great love of skiing and music could only be matched by his devotion to his family. He served as his Saint Michael’s Class of 1982 agent from 1987 to 1989. He was resolute in his convictions, unflinchingly loyal, and a pillar of strength for those closest to him.

Rob is survived by his wife, Kathryn (“Katie”), a son, a daughter, his mother, two sisters and extended family.
