William Ayoob ’54
William Ayoob, Fort Kent & Fort Fairfield, ME, died October 28, 2023. After Saint Michael’s, Bill, a Maine native, served honorably in the Army. An entrepreneur, Bill owned and operated Ayoob’s Market in Fort Fairfield from 1959 to 1967. He later served as town manager in Greenville, Winslow, and Millinocket. A devout Catholic, he was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and a Sub Deacon at Saint Joseph’s Maronite Church, Waterville.
Upon retiring, Bill and his wife, Diane Voisine Ayoob, settled in Fort Kent, joining Saint Louis Catholic Church. Bill, proud of his Lebanese heritage, enjoyed the tranquility of Big Machias Lake and the company of friends. In younger years he belonged to the K of C and the Elks, and he enjoyed skiing.
Bill was a President’s Medallion supporter of the College. He is survived by his wife, Diane, three sons, a daughter and extended family.
