Paul Lagermasini ’91

Presented by Dave Landers

Hello, St. Mike’s! I am Dave Landers, longtime staff member in the Saint Michael’s Personal Counseling Office as well as a faculty member in the Psychology Department and the Faculty Athletics Representative. It’s my honor to read the Alumni of the Year citation for my friend Paul Lagermasini.

Paul has been living out the SMC vision, Do Well and Do Good, since his first days on campus. As a member of the soccer team, a leader in student government, and a volunteer with MOVE, Paul always took time to encourage his teammates, serve as a role model for his classmates, and make a difference in the wider community.

A native of New Jersey, Paul headed to New York City after his 1991 graduation, where he received his MBA from Fordham University and began a long and impressive career in financial services and investment management, working for large and reputable Wall Street firms in high level executive positions.

Despite his busy career, Paul has always made time to serve as a career advisor for men’s soccer student-athletes. He has worked with countless other St. Mike’s students and young alumni to help them find internships and jobs, and has served as a mentor and friend to many.

Paul has hosted multiple SMC events in New York City, including a memorable book signing for me. He always goes out of his way to support his friends, and I’ve been grateful for that wonderful quality for 35 years. Paul has twice served as a panelist for the annual Career Symposium, is a President’s Medallion Society donor, and brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the All in for St. Mike’s campaign committee, the College’s largest capital fundraising effort in more than a decade.

Paul lives on the Upper East Side with his wife Maria. He serves as president of his condo association and in his free time enjoys fishing, golf and biking. St. Mike’s is always front of mind and holds a special place in his heart. “I had a roommate sophomore year who had cerebral palsy,” Paul recounted recently. “One of my favorite memories was the crowd cheering him when he received his degree.” I remember that truly special moment – I love that Paul treasures it, too.

Paul Lagermasini is the kind of alumni that other alumni aspire to be – as an athlete, mentor, professional and friend. It is for all these reasons that today, I’m proud to name him 2021 Alumni of the Year. Congratulations my friend, and many thanks for all you do.
