Back to All Engineering, Mathematics Spotlights
I currently work as a Civil Engineer for EIV Technical Services in Winooski, Vermont, supporting transportation and infrastructure projects across the state. My responsibilities include tracking construction quantities, reviewing certifications and test results, managing payroll and civil rights compliance, organizing daily inspector reports, and maintaining accurate documentation. I also collaborate closely with field inspectors and spend time on-site, gaining hands-on experience that helps me understand the full scope of our work.
Originally from Venezuela, I came to the U.S. to pursue both academic and athletic goals. I was recruited to play for the Saint Michael’s College men’s soccer team, and what began as an athletic opportunity became a life-changing experience. The supportive community, small class sizes, and strong academics helped me grow as a student, leader, and teammate. Also, the liberal arts curriculum gave me strong communication and critical thinking skills, which are just as important in my current engineering role as technical knowledge. Outside the classroom, working on campus and playing soccer taught me discipline, time management, and resilience, qualities that continue to shape how I approach my career today.
Through the 3+2 Engineering Program, I completed my Engineering Management degree at the University of Vermont, gaining deeper technical experience while maintaining commitments across two campuses. Balancing academics, athletics, and work taught me how to stay organized, focused, and adaptable under pressure. I’m especially grateful for the strong math foundation I built at Saint Mike’s and the faculty who supported me throughout the journey.
