Austin Cucchiara headshotI graduated from Saint Michael’s College in December 2020 with a double major in Mathematics and Secondary Education. Shortly after graduating, I began teaching engineering and mathematics at a STEM focused high school in New Jersey. During this time, I was able to further develop my skills in SQL and python through assisting students. After nearly 2 years in this role, I transitioned into a new role as a Jr. Brand Strategist for an email marketing company, utilizing data visualization softwares to determine data backed actions that improve retention and click rates for my clients. Since then, my role has changed to an Email Strategist where I no longer manage clients, but rather monitor performance for the email channel as a whole and determine adjustments that can be made to company specific sending strategies that will drive greater engagement.

The education I received from SMC provided me with more than just the skills I have needed to be successful in my roles. Saint Mike’s also fostered a desire to learn and continuously seek out new skills, regardless of whether those skills are beneficial to my current career or not. Saint Mike’s consistently challenged my critical thinking and exposed me to new beliefs that have allowed me to deepen my understanding of complex issues. Throughout my time at SMC, I had to effectively manage my time to complete a variety of projects and tasks involving mathematical modeling and critical thinking which has been extremely influential in my success thus far.

In my free time, I frequently play chess online, ride my bike, play basketball with friends, and read a variety of books. Recently, I was also the assistant wrestling coach for the high school I graduated from. I also continue to do personal tutoring in mathematics when able to. In the near future, I intend to begin working towards a Master’s Degree in Data Science in the Fall 2025 term. I am confident the skills and experiences gained from Saint Michael’s will continue to drive me towards further success, and am grateful everyday for the time I spent there.
