Letovsky appointed as LaMarche Chair in business

March 20, 2017

Saint Michael’s College Professor Robert Letovsky recently was honored with a three-year appointment as the David LaMarche Endowed Chair of Business Administration and Accounting, effective Fall 2017.

President Jack Neuhauser confirmed the appointment on March 9, 2017, after Letovsky was nominated by business and accounting faculty colleagues, and received support from both Dean Jeff Ayres and Vice President for Academic Affairs Karen Talentino.

Edmund Cashman ’58 endowed the LaMarche Chair for the Department with intentions to award and honor a faculty colleague who demonstrated a history of commitment to excellence in teaching and service in support of the College’s mission and to support faculty in leadership and excellence.

Letovsky says he plans to continue his research and service for the Life After College committee: Last March, he was invited to serve on a strategic plan committee focused on “Life After College.”  This committee was part of the strategic planning process initiated by President Neuhauser in 2013.  The committee worked through Spring 2016 and Summer 2016 and submitted a report to the Cabinet.  Following a presentation to the Board of Trustees this past March, the committee has received support to advance some of its recommendations. Letovsky’s appointment to the LaMarche chair will allow him to continue his work and research on co-op programs, development of college work-study to meaningful experiences, and promoting student success after graduation.

Letovsky said he was hired by David LaMarche, so this appointment is especially meaningful for him. “The Life After College committee on which I’ve been serving for the past year has been an outstanding group, and I’m really honored to continue helping to move many of its ideas forward.  I look forward to doing everything I can to maintain that progress in order to increase opportunities for our students,” said Letovsky, who was awarded the 2016 Saint Michael’s College Norbert A. Kuntz Service Award at the annual Academic Convocation held last semester.
