As we approach Commencement for the Saint Michael’s College Class of 2025, we are highlighting where our seniors plan to go next and how they hope to apply the knowledge they gained at St. Mike’s.

At Saint Michael’s, students interested in Engineering have the ability to partake in the 3+2 Engineering program in collaboration with the University of Vermont. This program takes five years for students to finish. However, after doing so, they receive two college degrees from both universities.

Senior Jackson Moser ’25 is completing this path, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Civil Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from Saint Michael’s College and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Vermont.

Moser shared some takeaways from his time as a student, as well as his plans for after graduation, in a Q&A. His answers have been lightly edited for style and grammar.

Saint Michael’s College: What are your career/education plans after graduating from Saint Michael’s College?

Jackson Moser: I am going to be working as a civil engineer at Quiddity (civil firm) in Dallas, Texas, in land development.

SMC: How did Saint Michael’s College support you to get to this point?

JM: When taking Intro into Engineering with Professor [Barbara] O’Donovan, I got to explore many different aspects of engineering principles, which helped guide me in taking specialized courses at UVM, where I built the technical knowledge needed as a civil engineer.

SMC: What will you take with you into post-grad life from your education at Saint Michael’s?

JM: At Saint Michael’s, I developed better communication skills that I can use to interact with clients and PEs [professional engineers] to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams in future projects.

SMC: What are you most looking forward to after graduation?

JM: Moving back to Texas, where I’m closer to family and living on my own.

SMC: Do you have a career/education goal for the next five years? 10 years?

JM: I will take my FE [Fundamentals of Engineering exam] in early June and become a PE [professional engineer] after five years of work experience, hoping to manage my own projects soon after.
